 Professional Development


The Metropolitan School District of Steuben County knows that professional development encompasses a definition that includes formal and informal means of helping teachers and administrators learn new skills, develop new insights into strategies, and their own practice, and explore advanced understandings of content and resources. We will support teachers as they encounter new challenges and help them to continue to grow in their professional skills, understandings, and interests. The focus for professional development is tied to each school’s Improvement Plan and specific needs of their staff. 
 
The Metropolitan School District of Steuben County follows Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning to promote ongoing professional development and to encourage:

·         Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students applies research on change and sustains support for Implementation of professional learning for long term change.
·         Professional learning that increases educator effectiveness and results for all students aligns its Outcomes with educator performance and student curriculum standards.
