MSD of Steuben County Celebrates Record-Breaking Early Literacy Success with 2024-2025 IREAD Results
MSD of Steuben County is proud to announce a historic achievement in early literacy, with the official 2024-2025 IREAD results showing a record-breaking proficiency rate. The district reached its highest-ever pass rate with an impressive 90.3% of students achieving proficiency, well above the state average of 87.3%.
This landmark success is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the entire school community. Furthermore, the district is celebrating that there were no retentions of third graders due to IREAD, a significant accomplishment given the new legislation requiring retention for students who do not pass and lack a good cause exemption.
The growth from the previous year is also a major highlight, with MSD of Steuben County's year-over-year growth surpassing the state growth average by nearly 3%. The district saw an overall growth of 7.4%, which translates to 15 additional students passing compared to the year before.
This incredible success is a direct result of the immense hard work of our dedicated teachers and staff. They have demonstrated an urgent commitment to supporting every student, undergoing an immense amount of training, providing after-school tutoring, offering in-school intervention, and hosting informational meetings for families and caregivers throughout the entire school year. The motivation of our students and the strong support from families and caregivers have also been crucial to this achievement.
While we celebrate this monumental success, the work is not over. MSD of Steuben County will continue to strive towards the state goal of having 95% of students pass IREAD by the 2026-2027 school year. We look forward to continuing this vital work with the same passion and dedication that has brought us to this historic point.
