Kindergarten Roundup kicked off yesterday at Hendry Park Elementary. Shy smiles and excited exclamations could be heard as our newest Hornets and their families arrived.

Upon entering the school, families could visit a transportation table and receive vaccination information provided by the Steuben County Health Department. At check-in, parents were then guided to the area where they could officially enter information to get their students registered, while the rising kindergarteners were escorted to a play area until it was their turn for evaluation.

Elementary Curriculum Director Jonathan Winslow said, “These aren’t just registrations. They are the beginning of lifelong friendships and an opportunity to get a head start on understanding each individual child's unique needs. We are looking forward to successful evenings at Ryan Park, Carlin Park, and Pleasant Lake in the coming days!”

Students from Ryan Park in Miss Kobelak's 5th-grade class have spent the last few weeks travelling through a theme! The students all received "passports" and recorded the themes of the stories they read throughout the reading unit. If they were correct and put forth good effort, they received a stamp! They ended the unit with pizza, a photo booth, and a strong understanding of the theme!

Daylight Saving Time begins! Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour.

The cafeteria was packed, and the stage was filled with students dressed in their black concert attire. As the first notes rang out, it was clear the 7th and 8th grade band concert was underway. 🎶

Our students have been working hard to prepare, and this was their chance to showcase their improved skills for family and friends before heading into competition season. The 7th and 8th-grade concert bands performed several selections, followed by an energetic performance from the Jazz Band.

The audience responded with loud cheers and applause after each performance. We are so proud of these talented musicians and all the hard work they have put in.

Good luck to our students as they compete tomorrow at the ISSMA Jazz Competition and again next weekend at the ISSMA Concert Competition! 👏🎺

Fog has not lifted, so all MSDSC schools will be closed on Friday, March 6, 2026. We will transition to a LIVE E-Learning Day, with instruction beginning at 9:00 AM.

Ryan Park celebrates Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Walk through the halls, and you’ll hear rhymes echoing from every corner as teachers read aloud the playful words of Dr. Seuss. First grade took their story to a whole new level; after reading, they turned the book’s idea into an experiment, keeping it a secret as to what exactly they were keeping track of. Students were all given a treat, and after everyone had a turn, including the teachers, the results were finally revealed and explained. Students laughed and cheered at the reveal. A perfect way to celebrate the joy of reading.

National Read Across America Day is celebrated on the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss, making it the perfect time to dive into his timeless stories.

At Hendry Park, that spirit was on full display! From colorful nods to Dr. Seuss to students fully immersed in their books, the excitement for reading could be seen in every corner of the school.

The band Solo & Ensemble season wraps up this weekend with State competition. While AMS does not have students competing at State this year, we have so much to celebrate!

At Districts, 110 AMS band members participated across 68 events. An impressive 60 performances earned gold ratings, with the remaining 8 earning silver. What an incredible accomplishment!

We are so proud of your dedication and look forward to hearing your continued growth in the years ahead!

Good luck to our students competing at ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble this Saturday in Indianapolis. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication it took to reach this level!

CTE Week
We are proud to be able to continue our partnership with the City of Angola Fire Department and offer students the fire and rescue pathway. Students learn a variety of skills from EMT to fighting a blaze. We are proud of our past graduates of this program and look forward to seeing what the current class accomplishes.

In celebration of FFA Week, FFA members at AHS came together this morning to prepare and serve breakfast to our incredible teachers and staff. It was a small way to show appreciation for everything they do each day. A delicious meal and lots of smiles made it a wonderful way to start the morning! 🌟
