In Celebration of Technology Education Appreciation Day, we spotlight Austin Van, our Technology Coordinator. Austin is continuously exploring the latest technology applications, tips, and tricks, she brings her enthusiasm and insights to our teachers, staff, and students.
Austin brings a wealth of experience to her role, having taught in Special Education, STEAM, and elementary classrooms. An Angola graduate, she returned to continue to grow and contribute to the community she loves. With 10 years of service in the MSD of SC, Austin's commitment to education strengthens as she continuously seeks out new challenges.
Outside the classroom, Austin is an outdoor enthusiast enjoying backpacking, kayaking, or a long hike. She is always eager for a challenge, trying new foods, a daring experience, or learning about something she has no previous knowledge of. She has traveled to various destinations, her dream is to visit Israel, as she is the only member of her family yet to make the trip.
Indoors, Austin challenges herself by mastering various food preservation techniques, including dehydration, canning, and freezing she wants to learn to ferment next. Her competitive spirit shines through in her personal goals, particularly her lighthearted ambition to beat her sister in a push-up competition. Yet, she also finds time to unwind with a good book and is on track to meet her reading goal early this year.
For Austin, a core value is everyone deserves a quality education, this is reflected in her life motto: "Life Long Learner." One of her greatest achievements is completing her Masterās degree with a 4.0 GPA. This is especially meaningful because school was always challenging for her. She is passionate about inspiring others, teaching cross-curricular classes, and assisting and guiding students in their passion projects.
Austinās zest for life, commitment to continuous learning, and compassionate nature make her an invaluable asset to MSD of SC, especially in the tech department. We are thrilled to celebrate this wonderful individual!

AHS joins with schools around the nation celebrating College Go Week. The week includes activities and resources to help students navigate the college admissions process, and many Indiana universities waive their application fees during this time.

Ryan Park hosted VIP Breakfasts this week. Special adults were invited to the school to have breakfast, visit the book fair, and see the student's classrooms. The Trine Football team helped out by being the VIP for students who could not have someone attend the event.

The Steuben and LaGrange County Soil and Water Conservation District organized an engaging Water Day for the AMS 8th-grade science classes. During this hands-on event, students explored microorganisms and aquatic insects. They conducted tests to measure water acidity, oxygen levels, and other important factors. This exploration revealed how various forms of life, along with chemical and temperature conditions, indicate the overall health of water. The testing today showed that the water at the site was healthy! #SteubenStories

MSD of SC is CANCELLED due to fog! Classes will switch to e-learning for the day. Students check your google classroom for assignments. Assignments will be posted by 10 am. Teachers will be available to answer questions from 10 to 3. Thank you

In the halls of AMS, you will find Rosten Hamman a dedicated teacher whose passion for life can be seen in the classroom and his everyday activities. Rosten has 13 years of teaching experience and is now in his fifth year teaching 6th grade at Angola.
Outside the classroom, Rosten claims to be boring just enjoying life's small things. You can find him playing music, particularly the guitar, cooking up a storm (a lover of food and smoked meats), or unwinding with family, wrestling with his kids after a busy day.
A personal achievement Rosten is particularly proud of is his role as a father of two. He likes to challenge himself outside the classroom, recently completed a half Ironman, and is now gearing up for the full challenge. He is always learning new things such as pickleball and audio editing.
Rosten's favorite book is, "The Lord of the Rings," this fantasy epic not only sparks his imagination but also reflects his adventurous spirit, a trait that fuels his dream of visiting New Zealand. Heās captivated by the countryās breathtaking hiking sites and its connection to the beloved fantasy series.
Teaching is not just a career for Rosten; it's a calling deeply rooted in his family legacy. With both his grandfather and father having careers in education, teaching came naturally to him. Inside and outside the classroom, he is driven by the belief that people are more capable than they think. His philosophy centers on helping students gain confidence, nurturing relationships, and encouraging them to believe in their own potential, his motto is be 1% better ever day. He also relies on his own experience with a speech impediment to foster empathy and understanding with all students. In the classroom, Rostenās favorite subjects to teach are multimedia, creative thinking, and problem-solving. He enjoys igniting curiosity and innovation in his students.
His achievements, passions, and philosophy illustrate a man dedicated to making a positive impact on those around him, both in and out of the classroom. We are proud to spotlight this amazing teacher and person.
