Students in Mrs. Pugh’s class have had some very special guests over the past few weeks! Students from Trine University’s storytelling class brought their learning right into our classroom, sharing stories in a variety of creative ways. Some read their favorite childhood books, others told stories they had written themselves, and some recited classic tales.

Our kindergarteners listened, laughed, and eagerly participated. They were completely captivated by the experience!

We are so thankful for our partnership with Trine University, which creates meaningful opportunities for both their students and ours.

Songs filled the air as the middle school and high school choirs performed under the direction of Mr. Ryan VanAntwerp. The show featured each choir performing a couple of songs, with special solo performances in between. The night ended with all of the choirs coming together for a joint performance.

Mr. VanAntwerp also announced that Angola Middle School had been awarded the 2026 J/M/E All Music Award. This award is presented to organisations that achieve top ratings across a variety of categories in competitions throughout the year. Congratulations, AMS Choir, great job!!

During Early College Week, Angola High School students shared how the program is helping shape their goals and prepare them for the future.

Brayden Perkins, who joined the program as a sophomore, said his motivation is rooted in both personal and long-term goals. ā€œI want to have a successful career, provide for my family, leave a legacy, and help people,ā€ he said.Brayden plans to attend Ball State University to study architecture with a minor in construction. He added that the program’s access to college-level classes and campus visits made a strong impact. ā€œTalking with professors and seeing campuses really stood out,ā€ he said, noting the trip to Notre Dame as his favorite experience.

Max Tynan also joined the program during his sophomore year and sees college as a necessary step toward his career. ā€œI’m going into psychology, so I need a degree,ā€ he said. Max plans to attend the University of Evansville to study psychology, with a focus on working with children. He described Early College as ā€œa stepping stoneā€ that provides opportunities to take classes early. Among his highlights was a visit to the University of Michigan.

For Daniela Carmona, the program has been an opportunity to grow academically and focus on her interests. ā€œIt’s an opportunity to enhance my learning and go into something I’m passionate about,ā€ she said. Daniela, who also joined as a sophomore, plans to attend IU South Bend to study speech pathology and hopes to work in a school setting. She said taking college-level courses has helped her gain experience, and she pointed to the Notre Dame visit as a memorable highlight.

All three students emphasized that starting the program in their sophomore year gave them early exposure to college expectations while helping them take meaningful steps toward their future careers.
