Last week, AMS held its annual Veterans Day Program. Students and staff invited family members and community guests to a special performance honoring the men and women who have served our country. Speakers included students, staff, and the Mayor, and the event featured performances by both the band and choir.

We are honored to host this program each year and grateful for everyone who joined us in celebrating our veterans.

Can you believe we’re already approaching the official countdown to Christmas?
Our creative district administrative assistant, Karen Parker, has crafted a clever wreath for the Annual Angola Chamber of Commerce auction.
The lucky bidder on the MSDSC wreath will not only take home this fun, festive creation, but will also receive a backpack filled with Angola Hornet goodies—including several shirts, a water bottle, and more!

Yesterday, an extended power outage affected much of the community, including Hendry Park Elementary. The administration responded quickly to ensure students were safe and received lunch as planned. Afterward, students were transported to Angola Middle School, where they were able to work on homework, relax, or watch a movie.

The teachers and staff from Hendry Park did an outstanding job keeping students calm, cared for, and supervised until parents arrived or dismissal time. The AMS front office also stepped in to handle the many incoming calls throughout the day.

We are proud to be part of such a supportive and dedicated school community.

Ryan Park First Graders had some amazing visitors on Veteran's Day! We were visited by the Daughters of the American Revolution. They shared information with us regarding Veteran's Day and important Americans such as Betsy Ross, Henry Spyker and his wife Mrs. Spyker. There is a Pokagon chapter if anyone is interested and there are monthly meetings as well! Thank you so much for coming!

Today, and every day, we pause to express our deepest gratitude to the men and women who have served our country. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice have protected the freedoms we enjoy and the opportunities our students have today.

We especially want to recognize and thank the veterans who serve within our schools — as teachers, staff members, parents, and volunteers. Your continued commitment to our students and community is an inspiration. You exemplify leadership, service, and integrity, and we are grateful for the example you set every day.

From all of us at MSDSC, thank you for your service to our nation and your ongoing service to our students.

Pleasant Lake Montessori students invited local veteran's to breakfast and a special Veterans Day program today. Students sang in their class groups then select students presented original works in solo and small group performances. After the program, students received a special treat when a local veteran brought in MREs for them to explore and even sample firsthand.

Last night, families gathered at Angola High School to celebrate the induction of 42 new students into the National Honor Society, bringing the total number of NHS members to 74. These students exemplify the core values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and have pledged to continue demonstrating these qualities in their school and community.

Congratulations to all of our NHS members! We look forward to seeing the great things your future holds.

Keeping students motivated—especially when it comes to testing—can be a challenge. Our schools are always finding creative ways to reward student achievement. Earlier this month, Carlin Park students who earned top test scores got a chance to duct tape Vice Principal Vonderau to the wall. She stuck—at least for a moment!

Fall is the perfect time to get outside and play, and students in Ms. Sholl’s classes took full advantage of the season by learning the exciting game of ultimate frisbee! Ms. Sholl introduced the rules, demonstrated different types of throws, and gave students plenty of time to practice their new skills. It was learning, fun, and fitness all rolled into one great class! šŸ„āœØ

Angola High School sent the State-qualifying Boys Cross Country Team and Girls individual qualifier off in style! šŸšŸƒā€ā™‚ļøšŸƒā€ā™€ļø

The morning began with a spirited walk through the high school halls, as students cheered and the band played the school song. After photos and plenty of encouragement, the runners boarded the bus bound for Terre Haute and the State meet. Of course, the send-off wouldn’t be complete without a few celebratory loops around the mound!

Good luck, Hornets! We’re proud of you! šŸ’œšŸ’›

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A question Miss Hartman asked each of her students. They couldn’t take 18 field trips to visit the different professions, but Miss Hartman could send flat kindergarteners into the world to ā€˜work’ and report back. The class was so excited today when they finally got to see the flat kindergartener’s adventures!
