Before the break, Mrs. Alexander's kindergarten class spent two weeks "traveling the world". Some of the special events they did were - transforming themselves into elves, engaging in a video call with Ms Sparks while she was at a Christmas market in Belgium, having Jammie day, and sipping on hot cocoa made by Mrs. Wolfe (thank you, Mrs. Wolfe)

The holidays may be winding down, but let's take a moment to look back at some of the festive fun before the break! From Grinch and Whoville sightings to a special visit from Santa himself, we were even joined by a few reindeer. It’s been a season full of holiday cheer and unforgettable moments!

The K-5 Emotional Disabilities program at Hendry Park spread holiday cheer this year with their 3rd annual project-based learning service project: a Christmas gift drive. With the support of students, staff, and families, they collected 105 gifts, which were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana. This heartwarming initiative not only brought joy to children in need but also reinforced the spirit of giving and community involvement. #SmallCommunitiesBigOpportunities

As the semester comes to a close, we bid farewell to three incredible exchange students who have joined us from Brazil, Germany, and South Korea. To celebrate their time here, the Steuben County Quilt Society lovingly crafted beautiful quilts for each of them as a special memento of their journey. We wish these students the best of luck as they return home, but we hope they’ll always carry a little piece of Angola in their hearts.

Angola High School students have been having a great year, and on Friday, they got a special surprise! A merry guest visited spreading some holiday cheer and bringing a little Christmas magic to lunchtime. The surprise appearance brought out smiles, laughter, and countless selfies as everyone embraced the festive spirit!

This week, students from Pleasant Lake Montessori graced the stage for their enchanting winter concert. The performance featured a variety of festive songs, and a special appearance was made by the delightful characters from the 12 Days of Christmas, adding a magical touch to the event.

Frosty showed off his dance moves at Carlin Park's 1st and 2nd grade winter program! The event was filled with festive cheer as students sang holiday songs and played kazoo tunes. Mrs. Vonderau also got into the spirit, donning a charming outfit perfect for the occasion.

Hendry Park’s 1st and 2nd graders took the stage for a magical winter concert! Before the big performance, the other students enjoyed an exciting sneak peek. Frosty the Snowman joined in on the fun, while the sound of kazoos filled the air during the lively rendition of “Dashing Through the Snow.” It was a heartwarming celebration of the season, full of laughter, music, and festive spirit!

Join us this Friday for an exciting Varsity Boys' Basketball game as we take on Westview! In addition to the action on the court, we'll be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1999 Angola Regional Champion Boys' Basketball Team. It’s a special night as we honor the coaches, players, and cheerleaders from that successful season. Tip-off is at 7:30 PM—don't miss out on this celebration of past and present! We can’t wait to see you there!

Ryan Park Elementary showcased their holiday spirit last Friday. The 1st and 2nd graders took the lead, presenting a festive performance directed by Allison Arnos. The show featured everything from rapping reindeer to the lively Lords a Leaping. The event also included a special visit from Mayor Martin, who announced the winner of the Ryan Park Christmas Card competition. It was a heartwarming and memorable way to wrap up the week!

Christmas fun was in the air at the high school! Guidance and office staff arranged a cookie station during lunch for students to decorate and eat a Christmas cookie. Smiles and laughter surrounded the table as the students enjoyed the event.

Students in the education pathway at AHS are excited to partner with K-2 students and teachers this week! They've been helping assess reading skills at our elementary schools. It's wonderful to see our youngest readers progressing and our oldest students getting work experience!

Christmas music filled the air today as the Angola High School (AHS) band, accompanied by the Angola Middle School (AMS) 8th-grade band, visited our elementary schools. Band directors Bob Myers and Shana Lank guided the talented musicians through festive renditions of beloved Christmas classics. The performance began with the 8th-grade band, followed by the high school band, and ended in a group performance of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." The elementary students enthusiastically joined in, singing along to "Frosty the Snowman" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." These musical moments highlight the beauty of our close-knit community, providing incredible opportunities for our students to showcase their talents and inspire younger learners to explore the joy of playing musical instruments.

This morning, the gymnasium at Hendry Park Elementary buzzed with anticipation. Principal Mr. Stellhorn stood before the excited students, ready to introduce a very special guest: Mayor Dave Martin. Mayor Martin had come to recognize an outstanding achievement in creativity. Earlier in October, the mayor's office had launched an Angola Elementary Schools art contest, inviting local students to submit hand-drawn artwork for the official city Christmas card. It was a unique opportunity for young artists to showcase their talent and potentially see their work displayed throughout the community. After careful consideration, the mayor announced the winner: Chase Beer, a talented student from Hendry Park Elementary. Chase, the son of Jared and Cheryl Beer, had created a winning piece that captured the holiday spirit and impressed the selection committee. Additionally, a fellow Hendry Park student was honored as the runner-up, further highlighting the school's artistic talent. MSDSC is proud of the students’ creativity and thankful to the mayor's office for providing the opportunity. The event not only celebrated artistic achievement but also demonstrated the strong connection between the school and the local community.
