Mrs. Crankshaw's 1st-grade class embraced November's civic and cultural themes through an engaging educational experience. Students explored elections and Thanksgiving by participating in the WLKI Annual Charity Pie Auction for Cops for Kids. As part of their community involvement, the class conducted a democratic pie flavor vote, offering three enticing options: Caramel Apple, Gingerbread, and Brownie Pecan. Gingerbread was the clear favorite. A thoughtful parent baked the winning pie and provided samples for students to taste, enhancing their learning experience. The Gingerbread pie was ultimately purchased by Nate's Lawncare during the auction, supporting local charitable efforts. Great Job Mrs. Crankshaws Class. #SmallCommunitiesBigOpportunities

The Trine Women's Hockey team brought excitement to Hendry Park, while Ryan Park celebrated its December Rhino Way winners with a spirited parade. Over at Pleasant Lake Montessori, students got into the Thanksgiving spirit with a creative turkey bowling competition. Elementary students in grades 3–5 at Ryan Park and Carlin Park Elementary Schools showcased their creativity through a unique Pixel Art project in their STEAM classes. Each student completed 30 lines of a programmed Google Sheet. The student's artwork, included animals, TV characters, portraits, sports team logos, and outdoor landscapes. The completed designs have been proudly displayed outside the STEAM classrooms at both schools..

Yesterday Pleasant Lake Montesorri held "Pancakes for Pals" Students were invited to bring a friend for breakfast. Trine football players joined in on the fun. It was hard to tell who was having more fun the Trine students or our students.

Mr. Justin Lomont's 7th Grade Honors Language Arts class recently hosted a debate on the question: "Is a hotdog a sandwich?" The class began with Mr. Lomont reviewing the rules of debate. Over the previous lessons, students had researched their positions and crafted thoughtful opening and closing statements. Once the room was set up, excitement and anticipation filled the space as students presented their prepared opening remarks. The intensity grew as the rebuttal rounds began, with each team having two minutes to argue their case before the other team responded. It was clear that every student had listened attentively, as their rebuttals directly addressed the points raised by the opposing side. Even during lunch, the debate was on everyone's minds, with students eagerly discussing their thoughts and ideas. After lunch, the final round began with closing statements, where each team had one last opportunity to persuade their peers. In the end, it was decided — hotdogs are delicious! As a fun reward for their hard work, each student was given a gummy hotdog. Students are already looking forward to their next debate!

Congratulations Leslie Lantz on Receiving the IHSAA Education Champion Award The IHSAA Education Champion Award recognizes educators who profoundly impact student-athletes by fostering academic success and personal growth through meaningful connections. Mrs. Lantz: A dedicated educator and mentor, with 23 years of experience in the language arts department at Angola High School, Mrs. Lantz has distinguished herself as an exceptional educator. Currently teaching senior-level classes, she goes above and beyond to prepare students for academic success including SAT preparation, advanced college writing skills instruction, college essay guidance, and letters of recommendation. Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Lantz's commitment extends far beyond traditional teaching. She actively supports student-athletes by attending numerous athletic events, running the school's spirit-wear and consistently engaging with students outside of class hours. Ava Harris, a student-athlete, beautifully captured Mrs. Lantz's impact: "Mrs. Lantz has had a huge impact on my high school athletic and academic career. She is a fan of every sport at Angola and is always looking to form a connection with student-athletes. Last year when I would walk into her class, she would always ask how my game went or ask about an upcoming game. Even though I am not in her class this year, she still stops me in the hallway to catch up. This year she has attended almost every single volleyball game and one of my favorite moments with her was when she gave me a big hug showing her unwavering support after our team won the regional title. Mrs. Lantz is truly a great teacher who wants the best for every student. She has pushed me and all of her students in the classroom to be successful in whatever career the future holds.” Her dedication transcends academic instruction, creating lasting relationships that inspire and motivate students to excel.
