Congratulations Leslie Lantz on Receiving the IHSAA Education Champion Award
The IHSAA Education Champion Award recognizes educators who profoundly impact student-athletes by fostering academic success and personal growth through meaningful connections.
Mrs. Lantz: A dedicated educator and mentor, with 23 years of experience in the language arts department at Angola High School, Mrs. Lantz has distinguished herself as an exceptional educator. Currently teaching senior-level classes, she goes above and beyond to prepare students for academic success including SAT preparation, advanced college writing skills instruction, college essay guidance, and letters of recommendation. Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Lantz's commitment extends far beyond traditional teaching. She actively supports student-athletes by attending numerous athletic events, running the school's spirit-wear and consistently engaging with students outside of class hours.
Ava Harris, a student-athlete, beautifully captured Mrs. Lantz's impact: "Mrs. Lantz has had a huge impact on my high school athletic and academic career. She is a fan of every sport at Angola and is always looking to form a connection with student-athletes. Last year when I would walk into her class, she would always ask how my game went or ask about an upcoming game. Even though I am not in her class this year, she still stops me in the hallway to catch up. This year she has attended almost every single volleyball game and one of my favorite moments with her was when she gave me a big hug showing her unwavering support after our team won the regional title. Mrs. Lantz is truly a great teacher who wants the best for every student. She has pushed me and all of her students in the classroom to be successful in whatever career the future holds.ā
Her dedication transcends academic instruction, creating lasting relationships that inspire and motivate students to excel.
Congratulations, Mrs. Lantz, on this well-deserved recognition.

In the twisting hallways of Ryan Park, one teacher stands out for her unwavering commitment to her students and her passion for continuous growth. Meet Mrs. Ann Antos, a beloved 4th-grade teacher who has been positively impacting young lives for the past 23 years.
Beyond the classroom, you can find Mrs. Antos hiking with her family, getting lost in the pages of a good book, or listening to music to unwind. She shares a particular fondness for Evie White novels, especially "The Trumpet of the Swan." "That book sparked my lifelong love of reading," she recalls. However, when she gets home from work, nothing is better than curling up and watching classics like "The Big Bang Theory" and "Friends."
Mrs. Antos' adventurous spirit extends to her travel aspirations as well. "I've always dreamed of visiting Austria and exploring the stunning landscapes that inspired 'The Sound of Music,'" she shares. She also hopes to make a trip to Hawaii to celebrate a future wedding anniversary.
A proud mom of three, Mrs. Antos beams when talking about her children's accomplishments. "My kids are my greatest source of pride. From their academic achievements at Ball State and Trine University to their success on the soccer field, I'm constantly in awe of their determination and passion."
Mrs. Antos' love of teaching shows in her excitement about learning new teaching methodologies, like spelling morphology, and phonics. "It has been eye-opening learning these new processes, but also confirming that the changes I've implemented in my classes are supported by research." When asked about her teaching philosophy, Mrs. Antos replied, "Try! without trying, you never know what you will accomplish!" She emphasizes that she would not be the teacher she is today without her students. "They teach me as much as I teach them we may have a few failures but together, we grow and succeed."
With her passion for learning and her unwavering dedication to her students, Mrs. Antos is beloved by all who know her. As she continues to inspire the next generation, we can't wait to see what other amazing feats she'll accomplish.
