The Steuben and LaGrange County Soil and Water Conservation District organized an engaging Water Day for the AMS 8th-grade science classes. During this hands-on event, students explored microorganisms and aquatic insects. They conducted tests to measure water acidity, oxygen levels, and other important factors. This exploration revealed how various forms of life, along with chemical and temperature conditions, indicate the overall health of water. The testing today showed that the water at the site was healthy! #SteubenStories

In the halls of AMS, you will find Rosten Hamman a dedicated teacher whose passion for life can be seen in the classroom and his everyday activities. Rosten has 13 years of teaching experience and is now in his fifth year teaching 6th grade at Angola.
Outside the classroom, Rosten claims to be boring just enjoying life's small things. You can find him playing music, particularly the guitar, cooking up a storm (a lover of food and smoked meats), or unwinding with family, wrestling with his kids after a busy day.
A personal achievement Rosten is particularly proud of is his role as a father of two. He likes to challenge himself outside the classroom, recently completed a half Ironman, and is now gearing up for the full challenge. He is always learning new things such as pickleball and audio editing.
Rosten's favorite book is, "The Lord of the Rings," this fantasy epic not only sparks his imagination but also reflects his adventurous spirit, a trait that fuels his dream of visiting New Zealand. Heās captivated by the countryās breathtaking hiking sites and its connection to the beloved fantasy series.
Teaching is not just a career for Rosten; it's a calling deeply rooted in his family legacy. With both his grandfather and father having careers in education, teaching came naturally to him. Inside and outside the classroom, he is driven by the belief that people are more capable than they think. His philosophy centers on helping students gain confidence, nurturing relationships, and encouraging them to believe in their own potential, his motto is be 1% better ever day. He also relies on his own experience with a speech impediment to foster empathy and understanding with all students. In the classroom, Rostenās favorite subjects to teach are multimedia, creative thinking, and problem-solving. He enjoys igniting curiosity and innovation in his students.
His achievements, passions, and philosophy illustrate a man dedicated to making a positive impact on those around him, both in and out of the classroom. We are proud to spotlight this amazing teacher and person.

This week, students at Angola Elementary schools were presented with an exciting opportunity by Mackenzie Otter with the city of Angola Mayor's office. The City is hosting a design contest for this year's Christmas card. Each student has the option to submit one hand-drawn picture. The City Art Council will review all submissions and select one winner from each school. The lucky winners will have their artwork featured on 25 Christmas cards, along with a festive stocking filled with goodies. It's a wonderful chance to showcase creativity and spread holiday cheer! It is a great way to celebrate Day 2 of Arts in Education Week.

Today in Arts In Education Week we celebrate STEAM class at Carlin Park taught by Taylor Rigsby! The classes worked on drawing about what they would put in their dream house.
