Mrs. Burlingame at Hendry Park is taking the nerves out of the spelling tests. Each week, her class will host a local "celebrity". The guest will give the spelling test based on what the class learned that week. The 1st week, Officer Noll came in, and the kids LOVED having a new face help them with their test. They also got to ask questions about his job when they were done.

In celebration of Constitution Week, the High School Media Center partnered with the Pokagon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to offer free pocket Constitutions to students and staff. A curated selection of books highlighting the American Revolution and our Nationās founding documents is on display throughout the week and available for checkout in the media center.

While today may have been foggy, the weather was much clearer last week when 4th graders from Hendry Park Elementary visited Pokagon for Soil and Water Conservation Day

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) requires that all students in grades 3-8 participate in three ILEARN Checkpoints in addition to the ILEARN summative assessment in the spring each year. These Checkpoints are a component of the ILEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math. The window for the first Checkpoint opens the last week of September.
The Checkpoints occur seasonally in fall, winter, and spring, with an optional retest opportunity window opening concurrently. Each Checkpoint has 20-25 questions to show how an individual child is performing on key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards. Families may refer to the link below, which provides a flyer for each grade level, outlining the skills and concepts that will be assessed for each Checkpoint.

Following all fall testing, your child's school will send you an email with directions to access the new Family Portal, where you will be able to access your child's results. Make sure your email is up to date in Final Forms so you can get your Family Portal access code following the test window.

Some of our elementary students had the exciting opportunity to attend a special field trip to Trine Universityās Furth Center for Performing Arts! There, they experienced a captivating program presented by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. The Lakeside Wind Quintet brought Peter and the Wolf to life through a dynamic live performance that blended narration and music, creating a memorable and educational experience for all.

Congratulations to Jordan Taylor on Becoming a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist!
Jordan Taylor has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship, an honor awarded to less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide. This elite group represents the highest-scoring students in each state.
The nomination came as a surprise to Jordan. āI knew I had a chance, but I didnāt think it was a real one,ā he shared humbly. He credits the English score to the strong focus in Mrs. Lantzās class. At AHS, Jordan has been a part of Angola University and is on track to earn 60 college credits this year. Looking ahead, Jordan plans to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he hopes to pursue a career in fields that heavily involve mathematicsāsuch as actuarial science, engineering, or business.
Beyond the classroom, Jordan is a committed member of the AHS soccer team. āSoccer is a huge priority for me,ā he says.
Jordanās advice to fellow students? āKeep grinding and challenge yourselfādonāt take the easy classes!ā
We wish Jordan the best of luck as he continues this exciting journey toward his future!

The sidelines were full of spirit thanks to our Angola Honey Bees! These enthusiastic grade schoolers spent the week at cheer camp, learning cheers to support the team and bring energy to the game.
At halftime, the Angola Marching Band took to the field to debut this yearās show.
We were also proud to have representatives from Angola High Schoolās Early College program on hand to answer questions and highlight the amazing opportunities available to our students.
